The Huts x Salt Gypsy

Earlier this year we stayed with our good friends, Kelly and Adam, at their beautiful eco accomodation, The Huts, in the heart of Northland, New Zealand (read more about our stay here) while we roadtested and shot our women's surfboard range. A multi-talented designer, super mama of two gorgeous grommy girls, generous friend and powerful surfer, Kelly is the original muse for the OG Salt Gypsy blog way back when and I jumped at the chance to work on a collaboration surfwear range with her.

In a full trifecta of Kiwi designers, we roped in Milly Watson, to work with us on the textile design and are stoked on this new directional print and colour palette for Salt Gypsy. Check out more of Milly's work here.

There's something about the tonal palette of New Zealand's land and seascapes that I find such a welcome & rugged contrast to the tropical and dry lands I've lived over the last 9 years since leaving home. Having spent my younger-woman days dreaming of tropical surf adventures, I now find myself increasingly drawn back to the shores of home where Aotearoa embraces and grounds me. Earthing. Shoring. Finding my paradise in our own backyard.

And paradise is what you'll find up at The Huts in Northland. Nestling into family land overlooking Shipwreck Bay, Kelly & Adam's keen sense of thoughtful design and slow living is a match made in surf-lifestyle-heaven.

And heads up team ~ we are shaking things up around here and will only make up to 100 x pieces of our new Flax print styles. Yup, we're going super limited edition for discerning women of the sea.

Plus, because Kelly, Adam and their super rad family are such legends, each piece sold will plant a native tree as part of their ongoing regeneration project at Ahipara, New Zealand. Sustainable coastlines at iconic coastal surf spots. Winning.
