New collaboration partner
Introducing to you team: Haley Bugelli (USA) of Old Sol Supply. Legend of a creative-lady-wizard, we've worked together over the last few weeks to develop and reimagine the classic Zebra print we've been seeing everywhere in high & street fashion. Using Haley's mad product designer-skills (think Vans & Stance brands work history) combined with her own surf lifestyle x vintage-feels design thinking has resulted in our latest bespoke capsule range that we are, quite simply, frothing out on.
Development of a print
Right from our first online Zoom chat we found common ground over a love for vintage textiles and animal prints...specifically Zebra stripes...and immediately started sharing screenshots of our own personal collections of secondhand zebra print garments. Once that direction was set for the design brief, Haley set to work on creating a fully unique artwork tile we could set up as an allover yardage print.
At design school, one of the first things you're taught is the KISS method: Keep It Simple Stupid. And so it began, on a walk at her local beach a few weeks ago, where Haley stumbled across an interesting piece of seaweed she recognised could be developed into a textile print.
By applying the KISS method throughout the design process, Haley collected the seaweed (pictured above), dried it out at home, photographed it, worked her digital magic, played around with diagonal direction and scale...and voilá...here it is:
